Planned the coming days in Thailand on the way back to Bangkok and decided to make a trip to Kanchanaburi. Its a city to the west where the Bridge over River Kwai is located. The bridge has nothing to do with the movie that is recorded in Sri Lanka and the river aslo got the name after the tourist came to see a bridge that didnt existed. But since Thailand is built for tourist they changed the name on a river to suit the story and the need from tourists…

Had a walk over the bridge and took some photos as everybody else. Then it was to get back and also tried to find a busstop for the next days trip but it was impossible so ended up on a scooter taxi to the main busstop the next morning. The trip went to the Erawan falls, its located in a national park and is a serie of waterfall where its possible to jump into some of the ponds to swim around. Saw a sign that said it was not ok to bring water since they had problem with littering but without water i would have died and thought about an expression we have in Sweden. “You are allowed to do anything as long as you dont ask” and walked in and as long as someone didnt checked my bag i was going to carry the water.

It was no problem and just to continue in the park, the walk to the top of the falls was 2-3 km through the jungle and was a nice hike. Saw some monkeys on the way and all the water ponds had a lot of fishes that tries to suck/eat on your feet if you jumped in. At the top I jumped in and hoped for a nice picture but there were also a bunch of russians that got in at the same time. So lots of russian silicon and strings on both men and women ruined my picture.

After a lunch where it was to protect the food from hungry monkeys it was just to turn back down again. Was aiming for a good picture in the highest fall but when i got there it was full with 200 school kids so a bit dissapointed the walk continued to the next fall where i thought it was going to be many people since it was easy to get into. But happily i could see that it was almost empty so just to jump in before all the russians got down from the other falls. Finally i got my picture behind the waterfall =)

In the evening it was once again time to get on the bus and get back to Bangkok. Visited the royal palace the nextdays that was really nice, a lot of building is different colors. An annoying thing was that they had dress code so i got to borrow a pair of horrible blue pants to wear above my shorts. In Thailand there is a lot of people trying to fool you to go to a lot of places where you dont want to go, on the way into the palace there was a man that claimed it to be closed to everyone except thai people that was praying for the moment. HE gave tips of other attractions and recommended a tuk-tuk to go around with so i was happy to see him on the way out speaking to a family and i listened a little bit before i said that he said the same thing this morning. The thai guy got really angry that i ruined his business but i saw the father in the family just smiled, can say that it felt really good expesially since they earn the money on fooling tourist so always good with payback time.

After visited a huge market the next day my Thailand trip came to its end, after taking the taxi to the airport i got a nice surprise when i was boarding the airplane. I was upgraded to business class and got to try to fly in front of the normally closed area, got better meal than usual and sat good in my big chair.

On the flight i was looking forward to China and be able to communicate again, also to leave the extremly tourist focused Thailand. Didnt fall in love in Thailand as most of the swedish people, guess one reason is that i cant lay on a beach for more than an hour before i get bored and have to do something else…
